Before work begins, each project will be assigned in-house to either Sophie or Aveline's available calendar. You will have one editor for your project and will be your point of call. Each project is at the editor's discretion. If you choose a combined package, both editors will work on your manuscript for separate services (unless you ask otherwise). Please note that you are not able to choose your editor. If you are a returning client of a series, we will endeavour to give you the same editor who you've previously worked with.

Yes. We offer a free 1,000-word sample edit for fiction projects. Sample edits help us determine the appropriate service level and allow you to get a feel for our editing style before committing. Sample edits are offered based on availability for those who are interested in our service and do not obligate either party to proceed. If, after reviewing your manuscript, we believe a different level of editing would better serve your book, we will let you know before work begins.

We edit manuscripts in Microsoft Word with Track Changes where you may accept or reject every suggestion. We work thoughtfully and respectfully, with the goal of strengthening your writing rather than overwriting it. If you wish to use a software alternate to Microsoft Word, then please discuss with us before booking. We primarily edit in line with The Chicago Manual of Style, unless you request otherwise. We are happy to adapt to US or UK English conventions based on your preference.

We use a three-part payment structure: • 25 percent non-refundable booking deposit • 25 percent due before editing begins • 50 percent due upon completion and before delivery of final files Full details are outlined in our Terms and Conditions.

Your booking deposit, which secures your editing slot, is non-refundable. If you cancel before editing begins, no further payment will be required beyond the deposit. If you cancel after editing has started, payments already made will be applied to the portion of the manuscript completed at the agreed per-word rate. You will only be charged for work already done. If the value of completed work exceeds payments received, the remaining balance will be due. If you’re unsure about your timeline or have concerns, we always recommend reaching out before booking so we can help you plan comfortably.

We specialize in fiction with a strong romantic focus, including contemporary romance, romantasy, paranormal romance, dark romance, and other romance-driven genres. If you are unsure whether your project is a good fit, feel free to reach out or request a sample edit. Both editors have no trigger warnings. At this time, we do not work with non-fiction projects.
