TERMS & CONDITIONS
These Terms & Conditions are intended to create a clear, respectful working relationship between FlirtyFicsEdits (“we,” “us”) and the client (“you”). By booking our services, paying a deposit, or signing a contract, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to the following terms.
If you have any questions at any stage, we encourage you to get in touch before booking.
1. SCOPE OF SERVICES
1.1. We provide editorial services including proofreading, copy editing, line editing, and bundled services as agreed in writing prior to commencement.
1.2 The exact scope of work, service level, word count, fee, and delivery date will be confirmed in writing (via email or contract) before work begins.
1.3 Editorial services improve clarity, consistency, and readability but do not guarantee publication, commercial success, or the elimination of all errors.
2. BOOKING & DEPOSITS
2.1 A 30% non-refundable booking deposit is required to secure your editing slot.
2.2 No work will be scheduled or commenced until the deposit has been received.
2.3 The booking deposit confirms your acceptance of these Terms & Conditions.
2.4 The deposit is non-refundable but may be transferred once to a new date, subject to availability and sufficient notice.
3. PAYMENT STRUCTURE
3.1 Payments are split as follows unless otherwise agreed:

25% booking deposit

25% due once the manuscript is submitted and before editing begins
-
50% due on completion and before delivery of final files
3.2 Invoices must be paid within the timeframe stated on the invoice.
3.3 Final edited files will be delivered once the outstanding balance has been paid in full.
4. CANCELLATIONS & RESCHEDULING
4.1 Cancellations made 14 or more days before the scheduled start date: The booking deposit is retained; any additional payments will be refunded.
4.2 Cancellations made fewer than 14 days before the start date: The booking deposit is retained. If work has already begun, payment may be retained proportionally to reflect work completed.
4.3 Once editing has commenced, payments are non-refundable.
4.4 One reschedule is permitted with adequate notice, subject to availability.
5. MANUSCRIPT DELIVERY & DELAYS
5.1 Manuscripts must be delivered by the agreed date and in the agreed format.
5.2 If materials are not delivered on time, we reserve the right to:

reschedule the project, or
-
apply an additional fee, or
-
cancel the booking (with deposit retained)
6. CHANGES TO SCOPE
6.1 If, upon review, the manuscript requires significantly more work than originally anticipated, we reserve the right to:

renegotiate fees
-
adjust the delivery date
-
recommend an alternative service level
6.2 Additional requests beyond the agreed scope may incur additional fees.
7. SAMPLE EDITS
7.1 Sample edits may be offered to assess service level and are not indicative of the full edit.
7.2 Sample edits do not obligate either party to proceed.
8. DELIVERY & REVISIONS
8.1 We aim to deliver all work by the agreed deadline unless unforeseen circumstances arise.
8.2 One reasonable clarification or minor adjustment pass is included where applicable.
8.3 Substantive revisions, rewrites, or additional rounds may incur additional charges.
9. AUTHOR RESPONSIBILITY
9.1 You remain fully responsible for the content of your work, including accuracy, legality, originality, and final decisions.
9.2 You accept that no edit can guarantee a completely error-free manuscript.
10. CONFIDENTIALITY
10.1 All manuscripts and client information are treated as confidential.
10.2 We will not share your work with third parties without permission, except where required by law.
11. COPYRIGHT
11.1 All rights to the manuscript remain with the client.
11.2 Upon full payment, all edits become the property of the client.
12. RIGHT TO REFUSE OR TERMINATE WORK
12.1 We reserve the right to refuse or terminate work if the manuscript contains material that we reasonably consider unlawful, abusive, plagiarised, or otherwise unsuitable.
12.2 In such cases, payment will be retained proportionally to work completed.
13. ILLNESS & FORCE MAJEURE
13.1 In the event of illness or unforeseen circumstances, deadlines may need to be adjusted.
13.2 We will communicate promptly and agree on a revised timeline wherever possible.
14. LIABILITY
14.1 Our liability is limited to the amount paid for the services provided.
14.2 We are not liable for indirect losses, including lost profits or publishing outcomes.
15. PROMOTION & CREDIT
15.1 With your permission, we may reference your project for portfolio or promotional purposes.
15.2 We will not share excerpts without consent.
16. CREDIT & ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
16.1 We kindly ask that authors credit FlirtyFicsEdits in the acknowledgements or copyright section of their book where appropriate.
16.2 Suggested wording: [Editing service] by FlirtyFicsEdits
16.3 Credit is always appreciated but not required, and we understand that some publishing circumstances may limit acknowledgements.
17. SAMPLE EDITS
17.1 Free sample edits are limited to 1,000 words per project and are provided at our discretion.
17.2 Sample edits are intended solely to assess service suitability and editorial approach and do not represent a full edit.
17.3 We reserve the right to decline or limit sample edits based on availability or project fit.
18. GOVERNING LAW
18.1 These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
18.2 Any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the relevant courts.
19. ACCEPTANCE OF TERMS
19.1 Payment of a deposit, signing a contract, or proceeding with services confirms acceptance of these Terms & Conditions.
